Applying hot and cold treatments can also be an effective upper back pain treatment. Taking a hot back is a great way to heat up the tense muscles and get them to relax. People have also experienced great results from putting a hot water bottle on the upper back. Cold packs can also be an effective treatment, just make sure you wrap it up in a wet cloth to ensure you don’t get a cold burn.

Paying attention to your sleeping position is also vital. Changing up the positions can help to get rid of upper back pain. Also, if the pain is due to a sports injury, physiotherapy would be your best option.
